Chan spends precious time with family

FIRST ON 7: Video has emerged of Andrew Chan sharing tender moments with his family inside Bali's Kerobokan prison.

The 31-year-old is one of two Australians on death row in Indonesia for attempting to smuggle drugs from the country in 2005.

The pair, dubbed the Bali Nine duo, are waiting for authorities to order their transfer from prison to their place of execution on Nusakambangan island, where the firing squad has been heard training at night.

In the meantime, they are spending precious time with family.

7News has obtained an exclusive video recorded on a phone's hidden camera two weeks ago.

It shows Chan carrying a baby as he wanders through the prison with his family.

He is wearing a Rabbitohs rugby league jumper.

In another video, which aired on Indonesian television, Chan speaks to a woman whose voice has been disguised.

He can be heard telling her he does not know when he will be moved to the execution island.

Later, he walks with his arm around his mother.

There has also been cause for joy for Chan's fellow death row inmate Myuran Sukumaran, who has been awarded his associate degree in fine arts.

His mentor and friend, Archibald prize winner Ben Quilty, announced news of the degree from Curtin University on Friday.

"I am one immensely proud friend," Quilty tweeted.

The celebrated war artist has been mentoring Sukumaran since 2012, and has become his confidant over the regular visits.

Indonesia is yet to set a date for the execution of Sukumaran and Chan.

Bali chief prosecutor Momock Bambang Samiarso on Friday said more preparation was needed before the men could be transferred, which would be Sunday at the earliest.

"We're just counting the days," he told reporters.

Lawyers argue President Joko Widodo rejected Sukumaran and Chan's clemency without examining their reform since their 2005 arrest for attempted drug trafficking.

They plan to appeal their latest court loss, and have urged Indonesia not to execute the Australians in the meantime.
