Marsh brothers ready to run amok again

Coach Darren Lehmann will feel a major case of deja vu this week when he watches the Marsh brothers scurrying about their business in the Australian Test dressing room.

Mitch and Shaun Marsh were just runabout kids when they first started rubbing shoulders with Australia's cricket stars, with the pair annoying Lehmann and co during their dad Geoff's stint as coach.

Fast-forward to the present day, and the brothers have the chance to create their own legacy when they team up for the second Test against India, starting at the Gabba on Wednesday.

The pair will become the first set of siblings to play in the same Test team since the Waugh brothers made their last baggy green appearance together in 2002.

Geoff Marsh is proud as punch to see his sons achieve their dream of playing Test cricket together, but it's a scenario he never pictured happening 15 years ago while watching his boys run amok.

"When I played for Australia and coached Australia, my boys were in the dressing room running around and probably being a bit of a menace to people like Boof and Ponting and the Waugh brothers," Marsh senior said.

"But then you see them growing up and you start to see they've got some talent.

"And you hear people talking about how they're going to play for Australia one day, and I'm sure in their own minds that was their dream - to play Test cricket.

"As a parent, you just hope they do the best they possibly can. Tomorrow, they'll walk out there and it'll be a really proud moment."

Geoff was in Adelaide last week to watch Mitch take part in Australia's thrilling 48-run win over India.

But he has opted to give the trek to Brisbane a miss this time.

"He was over in Adelaide and he had a pretty good week over there, so he's had to rest his liver," Shaun Marsh said.

"That's why he's not coming up here for this Test.

"He's very proud and very happy that we've both been given an opportunity to play Test cricket together."
