Children rescue dad using app

Two children saved their father's by using a phone app.

A father has told the story of how his children saved his life after he lost control of his car.

Evan Cobcroft and his two children, Lachlan and Jessika, had enjoyed a day out at a national park when he lost control of their car, causing it to roll over.

While his two children, aged 15 and 12, managed to get out of the car unhurt, he remained trapped in the car for an hour and a half.

Luckily Lachlan and Jessica managed to save his life by using the Emergency+ mobile app.

"We couldn't pull dad out of the car, so he told us how to use the app and me and Lachlan walked until we got service," said Jessika.

After walking two and a half kilometres down the road they finally had a signal and emergency crews were at the scene within an hour.

Cobcroft had to be cut out of the car and airlifted to Sydney for treatment for broke neck and injured legs.

"It definitely saved time and may have saved my life," said Cobcroft.

He hopes to be walking again by Christmas.

The Emergency+ app is able to tell you the exact location in terms of latitude and longitude and helps the user to contact the correct emergency crew. It's free, easy to download, and most importantly – it saves lives.
