Tac De Boistron wins French Group One
Tac De Boistron has claimed his second win in the Group One Prix Royal Oak at Longchamp.
Owned by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, Tac De Boistron campaigned in Australia in 2012 but was sent back to Marc Botti in England after failing on firm tracks in the Geelong and Melbourne Cups.
The Prix Royal Oak over 3000 metres is recognised as the French St Leger and has been a Group One open to older horses since 1979.
Amilynx and Westerner are the only other horses to win the race twice.
Tac De Boistro, who beat Hi Jinx and Narrow Hill, had raced just twice since his previous Royal Oak triumph and was brought through with a powerful effort from his place in the middle of the field.
"I'm really chuffed," Botti said. "He had a setback earlier in the year and it took a bit longer than we thought.
"The ground was right, and he has got away with it even if he might have been short on fitness.
"There is nothing left for him on his ground but hopefully he will have a clear preparation now through to next year.
"He's seven, but looking at that he still seems to be getting better and hopefully he'll be around for another couple of seasons."
