Urban shows positive pics after tough year

It's been a tumultuous couple of months for Keith Urban.

The star's father-in-law, Antony Kidman, died suddenly last month in Singapore just before Urban was set to perform at the Washington State Fair.

The singer cancelled his show and, instead, promised to play at next year's event.

The country star, who is up for two ARIA Awards four gongs at the Country Music Awards in the US next month, has now decided to accentuate the positives from his whirlwind year by releasing a series of tour pictures from his year on the road.

The snaps published in Rolling Stone magazine show moments from Urban's concerts across the US as well the music superstars who joined Urban on stage.

Urban has duetted on stage with musical acts such as John Mayer, blues guitarist Gary Clark, Peter Frampton and Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards.

"There's that feeling you get when you meet someone that has the same name as you and then there's this! The original of originals... the roll in the Rolling Stones... the immortal KEEF!" he posted alongside the picture with the Stones guitarist.

The singer also shares a photo of him and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler pictured in an impromptu jam session at a Nashville bar.

They weren't the only musical friends to join Urban on stage this year. During his concert in Sydney in June he invited Jessica Mauboy and Jimmy Barnes on stage with him.

During that same concert he dedicated a song to his wife to mark their wedding anniversary.

"About this time eight years ago we were about five days away from getting married," Urban told concertgoers.

The country star will no doubt be hoping for a happier end to 2014, perhaps a win or two at the ARIAs and the CMAs.
