Charges over firearms theft

Police have charged a man and a woman over the alleged theft of three firearns, cash and a vehicle from a property in Narrikup three weeks ago.

After the burglary on September 12, officers found the vehicle on fire in nearby Mt Barker in the early hours of the next morning.

Police from the Mt Barker police station executed a search warrant at a residence in Mt Barker the following Wednesday as part of their investigation.

They searched the property and allegedly found the three firearms stolen from Narrikup, as well as two other firearms.

A 30-year-old Mt Barker man has been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing, stealing a motor vehicle and criminal damage by fire.

A 27-year-old Mt Barker woman has been charged with aggravated burglary and commit and stealing.

They are both due to appear in the Albany Magistrate’s court today.
