Woman dies in fall at Melbourne racetrack

A female harness driver and trainer has died after falling from a horse at a Melbourne racetrack.

Danielle Williams, 28, was found unconscious in a garden bed at the Cranbourne Racetrack on Monday morning and couldn't be revived.

Police believe the woman was riding one horse and leading another when she fell.

Harness Racing Victoria said the accident occurred at the Cranbourne Harness Racing Training Centre.

The death is being investigated by Victoria Police, but it is in no way being treated as suspicious.

Police are investigating the possibility that the woman may have been trodden on by a horse after she had been thrown from the sulky.
