Moss to stay Mariners boss until 2017

The Central Coast Mariners have re-signed head coach Phil Moss until the end of the 2016-17 A-League season.

Moss spent three years as an assistant before taking over from Graham Arnold, who left to join Japanese outfit Vegalta Sendai, last November.

He went on to guide the club to last season's preliminary finals and within a whisker of qualification for the Asian Champions League knockout phase.

Moss's contract was due to expire after the upcoming A-League season.

"I feel that everything is moving in a very positive direction on and off the field at the Mariners, that were bringing in and retaining the right people at the club at all levels, and that were building on our foundations for future success domestically and internationally," he said in a statement on Friday.

"Certainly the performances of our players helped instill belief into everyone at thec lub that the future is bright, and I am looking forward to leading (them) ... into what promises to be a memorable tenth anniversary season."

Mariners chief executive Bruce Stalder said the chairman and board felt Moss was the right person to take the club forward, labelling him one of the "up-and-coming coaches in Australian football".
