Strange circle of lights caught on camera floating through the air

People have taken to Twitter to post pictures showing a strange object floating through clouds during a storm.

The images taken in Huston, Texas, US, appear to show a bright circle of lights hovering over a residential area. An unrelated picture appears to show a similar looking object hovering over a road.

While pictures via Twitter originally showed the lights to be a static object, video footage was then released and showed that actually the lights were completely independent of each other; moving in and out of formation.

'I think the trick in UFO's is figuring out what else they could be,' Dr. Carolyn Sumners, vice president for Astronomy at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, told KPRC. 'It's easy to say that could be the aliens,'

In 2012 white rounded shapes were transmitted to Earth by NASA in images taken during its trip to Mars on August 5, the Huffington Post has reported.

Alien Disclosure Group UK's Stephen Hannard posted a video of four of the shapes online and highlighted them using a filter.

Mr Hannard describes the spots as "possible UFO sightings".

"What are these four objects? UFOs, Dust particles, or something else? As always you decide," he said.

However, the site reported the shapes have been dismissed as image "anomalies" or dead pixels by video analyst Marc Dantonio.

"All CCD [cameras] have them, and in a bland atmosphere like that at Mars, they would be very obvious as opposed to an active atmosphere like Earth, where they could end up hidden for a long time before anyone noticed them," Mr Dantonio said.

NASA never commented on the footage.
