Perth Glory’s windfall from the sale of teenager Daniel De Silva to Italian giants AS Roma could reach as much as $2.5 million in a deal that would smash the A-League transfer record.

As revealed in The West Australian last month, Glory are close to signing a deal with the Serie A title contenders, who are believed to have agreed personal terms with 17-year-old attacking midfielder De Silva last week.

Glory are likely to receive more than $500,000 up front, but the fee could blow out to five times that amount depending on clauses such as appearances and on-sale fees.

The transfer would smash the previous record for a player leaving the A-League, set when current teammate Rostyn Griffiths moved to Guangzhou R&F from Central Coast Mariners in 2012.

De Silva will be loaned back to Glory next season before moving to Europe after his 18th birthday, in March 2015.
