Police plead for clues over Mackay woman's murder

Police have released an image of a Mackay woman, just moments before she was brutally murdered, in the hope it could help locate Shandee Blackburn's missing handbag.

The 23-year-old was stabbed to death on on February 9, while walking home from work in the early hours of the morning.

The new images show Ms Blackburn carrying a cream coloured handbag with a silver skull embellishment.

Shandee's screams for help resulted in neighbours rushing to her aid, but the bag was missing.

"We are looking for a handbag, which we believe was taken from Ms Blackburn sometime during the attack," Detective Senior Sergeant Rodd Carroll said.

Two cars were spotted driving north along Juliet Street, Mackay at 12:12am by CCTV footage. Police want to speak with the drivers in the hope they might be able to provide further information.

Anyone with information on Shandee's death, should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
