Child and women winched to safety in Qld

FIRST ON 7: Child and women winched to safety in Qld

A child and two women have been airlifted to safety after their ute was surrounded by rapidly rising floodwaters in central Queensland.

A camera on a rescuer's helmet has captured the heart-stopping, and dangerous, operation.

A helicopter rescuer attempted to winch the three stranded on the tray of the ute to safety.

However, the 14-month-old boy was too small for the harness.

Instead the rescuer carries him to the helicopter in a waterproof equipment bag.
