Arrest in missing Hamilton woman case

Police say they have arrested a man and charged him over the disappearance of Hamilton woman Rae Portman.

The 32-year-old Hamilton man has been so far charged with kidnapping Ms Portman and police, who are treating her disappearance as a homicide, say more charges may follow.

The man will appear in Papakura District Court on Thursday morning.

Ms Portman, 33, who police say is involved with the drug scene, was last seen on June 20 when she drove her VW Passat from Hamilton to Auckland and checked into a Mt Albert motel.

Detective Inspector Mark Gutry said the investigation team was still working hard on the case and still needed public help.

"We want to find Rae's body and bring her home to her family and friends."
