A Derry little Christmas

Christmas has come early for X Factor sensation *Reigan Derry *.

Not only has the *WA *-raised songbird inked a lucrative record contract but she will also fly back to her home town tomorrow to spread some festive cheer by officially opening Myer's Giftorium in *Perth CBD *.

Derry, who came fourth on the Seven show this year, will belt out some tunes in *Forrest Place * at 11.30am before moving into the store to sign autographs in the lavishly decorated Christmas department, which will also feature face painters, tree decoration workshops and a pop-up treat shop.

Before jetting back to Perth, the 26-year-old was given a sneek peek into the Sydney Christmas Giftorium and said she was like a kid in a candy store admiring all the glittering decorations.

"The whole place was decked out with everything you could possibly imagine for Christmas," Derry told _AAA _.

"There are the most perfect gifts for everyone there and everything looks so sparkly and exciting. I already am getting ideas for what I am going to buy my sisters and family."

It is a special time all round for Derry, who last week announced she had signed a record deal with Sony Music and would be bringing out her debut single All of the Pieces and covers EP in early December.

The singer said she felt like all her dreams had come true after finishing up on the Seven talent search.

"It's a really magical time of the year for me," she said.

"Having gone through The X Factor, it has really changed my life. It's really not like I am going back to my old life after the show, it is like I am stepping into a new one and I am so excited. I am really looking for my single to be coming out just in time for Christmas."

Derry added she was also working on an original album for release in March with an "alternative folky pop" sound.

"I can't wait for my fans to hear my first song because it will confirm what I am all about," she said.

"On the show you kind of have to fit into different themes but this is just me now. It definitely is pop but it has a *Florence * ( *Welch *)-like edge with soulful vocals and folk influences."
