There are a handful of life rules that, for whatever reason, society expects us to follow. Don’t go swimming for an hour after eating (not fun), always play hard to get when starting a new relationship (does more harm than good) and never eat the last slice of pizza (utterly blasphemous and wasteful).
Today, we’re talking about one stupid rule in particular: Never wear white after Labor Day. I guess the logic is there if you think about it. White is a summery color, and it certainly is special pulling out all your white clothes as the weather gets warmer. But at the same time, it’s the stupidest rule I’ve ever heard.
When you put rules on fashion, the world gets boring — facts are facts! And think about all the gorgeous white boots, hats, dresses and coats. What would life be without them? I’m pissed, and you should be too!
Can you wear white after Labor Day?
Um, yes. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. As I said, white (and ivory) are the best when it comes to fall and winter fashion, so let’s lean in. Plus, white looks good on everyone. Literally, every single person who wears clothing. Picture it: An all-white outfit with a hot latte in your hand and soft snowflakes falling around you. Ah, the dream.
The only time you cannot wear white after Labor Day is as a wedding guest — which you should never, ever wear do no matter the time of year.
Okay, now that that dumb, silly little rule is canceled, let’s shop for some white outfits. Scroll down for the best ways to wear white after Labor Day — because you definitely can.
