New £45m housing development to open in Lewis

Care home development
The major development includes a care home and affordable housing

A new £45m housing development is to be officially opened later in Lewis.

The site at Goathill, Stornoway, includes a 52-bed care home, 50 flats for people with extra support needs and 74 affordable homes.

The project was proposed as a way to help tackle housing shortages in the Western Isles.

It was approved in 2018 and developed by local authority Comhaire nan Eilean Siar, Western Isles Health and Social Care Partnership and the Hebridean Housing Partnership with Scottish government funding.
