2yo dead after horror car accident at school
A two-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by a car at a school in outer Brisbane.
Queensland Police said the little boy died at the scene despite desperate attempts to save him.
Emergency services were called to the school in Durack on Thursday afternoon.
The tragedy occurred at Durack State School on Inala Ave in Brisbane’s outer-southwestern suburbs about 3.30pm.
The Courier-Mail said it’s understood the boy was hit in the carpark of the school.
Police are at the scene of the incident and are speaking with a woman.
“An investigation has commenced, and a woman is assisting police with their inquiries,” police said in a statement.
About 668 children from Prep to Year 6 attend the school, according to the school’s website.
The accident happened not long after the end of classes for the day.
In a social media post from Thursday night, the school said its entire community was “deeply saddened” by the tragic incident.
“We offer their deepest sympathies to family and loved ones,” the post reads.
“The school will be open tomorrow and we will have support and counsellors in place for anyone needing to talk.
“Together as a community we will support each other through this difficult time.”
