2 Students Shot at Antioch High School In Nashville, Shooter 'Is No Longer a Threat,' School Says

Two students were shot at Antioch High School in suburban Tennessee on Wednesday before the alleged gunman reportedly shot themselves, according to local police.

“Three people have been wounded, including the suspect, who shot himself,” the Metro Nashville Police Department said in a statement on social media, adding that “a shooting incident is under investigation” at the school.

Local outlets WTVF, WSMV, and WZTV have reported that an Antioch High School student opened fire on two classmates in the school’s cafeteria before turning the gun on themselves.

The extent of the injuries to the three students are currently unclear. PEOPLE has reached out to local authorities for an update.

Antioch, Tenn., is located roughly 17 miles southeast of Nashville’s city center. Antioch High School has roughly 2,000 students, according to the Metro Nashville Public School District’s website.

The school district announced on social media that Antioch High School was put “on a lockdown” after the shots were fired inside the school.

“Metro Police are on the scene,” the school district said. “The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat."
