Two people were rescued from a precarious situation after their pickup truck skidded off an icy road and plunged into a retention pond in Indiana on Monday morning, amid a severe winter storm.
Responding to the emergency in Plainfield, a suburb of Indianapolis, the Plainfield Fire Territory arrived on the scene and discovered the truck had veered off the road into a ravine and was partially submerged in the freezing waters.
Firefighters quickly assisted the two occupants out of the vehicle, who, fortunately, were unharmed. Photographs released by the fire department capture the dramatic scene: the truck encased in ice and snow, with flurries still descending.

The incident occurred as temperatures hovered in the low 20s, with a high of just 26 degrees expected for the day. By the time the storm subsided, Indianapolis had recorded a substantial 7.8 inches of snowfall. "If you must be out, take your time and travel safely," Plainfield Fire Territory cautioned. "However, we recommend staying home for today."
