2 killed, multiple injured in shooting at Texas Juneteenth celebration

Two people were killed and multiple were injured in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Texas on Saturday, police said.

An altercation broke out between two groups at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, and someone began shooting, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said in a press conference.

Banks said the victims were not part of the altercation and additional information on the victims is not available yet.

The people involved in the altercation immediately fled the area. Police do not have a suspect in custody and are searching for them as part of an ongoing investigation.

“It is unfortunate that we were here celebrating a wonderful event and we have a tragedy that happens,” Banks said. “My thoughts and my prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.”

The city and police are asking if anyone has video or information of the incident.

The chief did not provide information about those injured. CNN reported that first responders transported six people, including two children, to local trauma facilities, all with “potentially serious injuries.”
