Cpl. Gina Slaney of the Alberta RCMP told CBC News the crash was an unfortunate accident.

"There is no indication at this point that alcohol was involved," she said.

The RCMP notes six people were killed in vehicle crashes across the province on Wednesday, when sunny skies prevailed a road conditions were ideal. Slaney says this incident serves as a reminder to drivers to pay extra attention.

"The roads aren't slippery, I get it. But there are other things that contribute to these tragic collisions," Slaney said.
