Gerard Baden-Clay was charged with the murder of his wife Allison nearly two months after reporting her missing.
Baden-Clay reported the 43-year-old missing on April 19 and her body was found near a creek 10 days later.
Baden-Clay has also been charged with interfering with his wife's corpse.
A Supreme Court judge denied bail to the Brisbane real estate agent, rejecting the defence's argument that Baden-Clay was not a flight risk.
Crown prosecutor Danny Boyle has argued Baden-Clay's motive for the murder was to do with his wife's life insurance policy, financial troubles at his business, and evidence suggesting he was continuing to have an affair.
Court documents have shown that when police officers showed up to Baden-Clay's home, after he reported his wife missing, they noticed deep scratches on his face.
The marks on his right cheek appeared similar to fingernail scratches, the detective said in his affidavit submitted during Baden-Clay's failed bail application in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
He has argued the police case against his client is weak, with no cause of death identified, no weapon found, and nothing to place his client outside his home on the night his wife disappeared.
