Man dies on 'world's biggest rope swing'

A 22-year-old man has died while swinging from the 'world’s largest rope swing', which was made popular in a viral YouTube video.

Kyle Lee Stocking slammed into the ground while swinging from the 40-metre Corona Arch in Utah.

It’s believed Mr Stocking overestimated the length of rope he would need to complete the swing safely, and slammed into the ground after jumping from the arch.

Witnesses say Mr Stocking, who was at the arch with five friends, died at the scene.

The Corona Arch has become a popular destination for thrill-seekers after a YouTube video filmed there went viral online.

Commercial tourism companies are banned from taking parties to the rope swing, but private groups are still free to take the risk for themselves.
