Justin Bieber is no stranger to trouble but this is his most serious brush with the law.
It's the first time he's been arrested, and could result in actual jail time.
He didn't say anything when he faced Miami Dade court via video link dressed in his prison issue orange jumpsuit.
Mr Bieber, you are charged with the following.
Do you why alcohol or drugs.
Resisting without violence, and driving with an expired drivers license.
The 19-year-old was arrested at about 4am on Miami Beach when police said they saw him drag racing.
He was apparently racing any yellow Lamborghini against a friend.
He was driving at twice the speed limit.
He allegedly told police he had been drinking, smoking marijuana and taken prescription pills which were reportedly given to him by his mother.
Police say he was very belligerent when they tried to stop him, swearing and demanding to know why he was stopped.
When he opened up the window and confronted Mr Bieber, he smelt an alcoholic beverage.
Mr Bieber was not cooperating with instructions.
The officer asked him to exit the vehicle.
Ultimately he did step out, would not follow the officers instructions.
The officer at that time placed Mr Bieber under arrest.
He was released after spending about 10 hours behind bars.
He was greeted by his entourage and didn't try to hide the fact, got on the roof of the car and waved to fans.
