Melbourne showbiz couple Bert and Patti Newton claim they are the targets of an ongoing hate campaign.
Patti Newton revealed they have received 'explict hate mail', their phone line has been damaged and their car vandalised.
While husband Bert was in hospital last month with a severe bout of pneumonia she discovered the phone line at the couple's home had been cut.
Patti claimed that a technician who carried out repairs suggested the line may have been hacked.
However, the 66-year-old backed away from claims of hacking today, telling 7News she believed cutting the phone line was part of an ongoing hate campaign.
She told 7News she suspected her phone lines may have been deliberately cut or damaged by haters not hackers.
"I don't think my phone has been hacked at all. I think it was cut or damaged. Unfortunately at the moment my car's been badged, Bert's car's been badged, we're getting funny letters in the mail.
"Hopefully it was no more than some idiot having a bit of a play with the phones," she said.
"I don't think it was because someone wanted to listen into our conversations."
"I'm sure if they were to hack anyone's phone it wouldn't be ours. It's more likely to be someone that has much more important things to have secret."
