Kangaroo on the hop at Melbourne Airport

Yahoo!7 Updated January 7, 2013, 12:29 pm

A stray kangaroo has been captured in the car park of Melbourne Airport after giving police and security the run around for two hours this morning.

Officers tried to corner the eastern grey, before it fled to an upper level - much to the amusement of travellers.

Wildlife officers tranquilised the runaway before loading it into a rescue van.

The roo does not appear to have any injuries apart from damaged toe nails. It will be given a vet check.

It is not the first time airport staff have been caught off guard by a wayward kangaroo.

One sneaked into the long-term multi-storey car park in October last year.
