A curious snake with a thirst has been left with a bitter taste in its mouth, when it got its head stuck inside an empty beer can.
The distressed lowland copperhead was found by a Kyneton resident who called a snake collector for help.
Manfred Zabinskas said the reptile had to be cut of the can.
Apparently the incident isn't uncommon, with VB a popular choice with local snakes.
Mr Zabinskas said when snakes are startled they seek shelter in the first place they can find.
"Snakes do normally go for VB cans. We're not too sure why, whether they're typical Aussies," he said.
The reptile escaped the boozy ordeal unharmed and is now recovering at an animal shelter.
