Animal rescue shelter 'a full house'

A woman who gave up her career to rescue farm animals from death row needs help to buy a bigger property.

Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary, in Kilmore, is home to hundreds of rescued animals but founder Pam Ahern says it is overflowing.

The devoted worker has poured her life savings into the farm and now she needs help to make room for more threatened animals.

The cost of caring for almost 300 animals goes far beyond chicken feed, with vet bills, farm maintenance and a never-ending supply of milk and food for hungry mouths.

Edgar's Mission helps animals not covered by Australia's welfare legislation, unwanted production and factory farming animals, often surrendered by farmers themselves.

Thanks to Pam's dedication and generosity, animals like these will now live long, full and happy lives, but the farm is bursting at the seams.

Without the help to buy a bigger place, Pam will have to make the tough decision to start turning animals away.
