Family reduced to tears by act of kindness

FIRST ON 7: The family of a sick girl, whose car was stolen and burnt, has been brought to tears following some overwhelming acts of generosity.

Seven News viewers were so touched by the story of Maddy Florescu that they rallied to replace the damaged vehicle.

The Florescu’s used their family car to visit their sick daughter Maddy in hospital, struck down with a life-long heart problem.

It was stolen, dumped and torched on Friday night, leaving the heartbroken family without a way to visit their sick daughter.

Damian Cutler was one of dozens of Seven News viewers who phoned in offering cash and cars to the Florescu family.

“I saw your story last night, it was pretty heart-wrenching actually, so one car for you,” he told them.

“The most important [thing] for her recovery is to have family around her and if they’re not able to get there, she can’t have her family around...so we can make that happen for them.”

17-year-old Maddy says she and her whole family are overwhelmed by the generosity.

“It just goes to show that there are people in this world who still actually care” she said.

“We were struggling how we were even going to visit her tomorrow, so now we can go in and see her,” said Maddy’s emotional mother, Kristy.

“Thank you very much.”
