Caravan park evacuated after tanker rolls

Yahoo!7 June 26, 2012, 11:28 am

More than 100 people have been evacuated from their caravan park as a precaution after a petrol tanker rolled in Mildura.

The accident happened just after 5.15am this morning just metres away from the Big4 Holiday Park at the crossroads intersection of Deakin Avenue and Fifteenth Street.

No petrol leaked in the crash, but around 116 holiday makers and workers have been evacuated as a precaution.

They have been ferried by bus to an evacuation centre set up by the council, and may not be able to return to the site for some hours.

A decanting vehicle has been called to assist with the clean-up effort from Adelaide.

It is understood the tanker was carrying a mixture of leaded, unleaded and diesel.

The driver escaped the accident unharmed.
