Warne slams reports engagement to Hurley could be over

Liz Hurley has broken her Twitter silence by apologising to her followers that recent troubles with partner Shane Warne have been "too raw and personal to share right now".

The British beauty has also been spotted without her engagement ring, adding to speculation.

‘Shurley’, as they're also known, were supposed to be married this year but a series of cryptic tweets has sent rumours spinning that their innings is over.

About a week ago Hurely tweeted "the more I know of man, the more I love my dog."

While Warne wrote: “It's not what happens in your life, it's how you react to what life throws at u.”

And the last time the prolific tweeters directly contacted each other was on Father's Day, before Warne’s 44th birthday.

The pair often seemed to enjoy the media attention their high profile relationship attracted. Warne popped the question in Scotland in 2011; roughly a year after they began dating.

While their agents haven't confirmed the split, British tabloids seem to think it’s a done deal. One newspaper even implicates Warne’s ex wife Simone.

But Warnie also broke his Twitter silence on the issue on Wednesday night, rubbishing reports that their engagement is over.

“Yes we're sorting through (private) issues. But we're not throwing the towel in yet," he said.

Warne had planned a media conference at the MCG with Cricket Victoria this afternoon, but had to cancel at the last minute. He says it was due to scheduling issues.

"It would have been very difficult for Shane to go through that press conference today and say I’m not talking about this, this is my private life when he's clearly opened doors to his private life, via Twitter for so long," Showbiz commentator Peter Ford said.
