Driver nabbed making shopping list

A Victorian driver has been caught making a shopping list while she was driving.

The 46-year-old woman was spotted by police in the south-west Melbourne suburb of Williamstown this morning.

They observed that she was driving with her head down and not watching the road on a number of occasions.

The woman told police she had been writing a shopping list.

She was fined $388 and lost 3 demerit points for careless driving.

The national holiday road toll stands at six following the death of a man in Western Australia early on Monday.

So far, NSW and Tasmania have each recorded one death, but three people have died in Victoria since the toll period began at midnight on Sunday.
