Victorian cancer patient's birthday card wish

A young cancer patient has made a simple request for his tenth birthday and captured hearts across the globe.

Rafael Moraes, of Point Cook, was diagnosed when he was four with Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer.

To cheer him up, his Facebook page, Rafael's Warriors, is asking supporters to make his day extra special with a birthday card.

"It's been shared and shared and shared so what we thought was going to be 100 cards is probably going to be thousands," his mother, Natasha Moraes, said.

It is still 15 days to Rafael's birthday and already he has been inundated with birthday cards from supporters across the world.

"They're coming from Canada, England, Brazil, Germany and lots from Australia," Natasha said.

Childcare worker Tierney Randall dropped off dozens of cards today, and she is anticipating many more.

"I'm hoping for close to a thousand," she said. "Just as long as he can open them all."
