When the One Big Switch campaign launched we expected 20,000 people to sign up to be part of the negotiation for a twelve per cent saving on power.

Now the numbers have surged to more than 115,000 people looking to make the change.

Based on the information those making the switch have provided, electricity costs the average Victorian home $2110 a year. A saving of twelve per cent would mean $253 a year.

In New South Wales the average annual bill is $2570, so twelve per cent off would equal $308 a year.

South Australians are worst off still, spending on average $2697 a year on power, so they can save $323.

While Queenslanders pay more again - $2713 per year. A twelve per cent saving for them would come to $326.
