Adene Cassidy is a reporter with twenty years in the industry and a number of big stories to her name.
Adene completed her Bachelor of Arts at Perth's Murdoch University in 1991. Three months later she landed her first job, as a radio producer for Howard Sattler, Western Australia's most successful and longest-running current affairs radio host.
Adene worked in this position for 6PR for three-and-a-half years, and had her work recognised with an Australian National RAWARD for Best Newcomer Off-Air. During her time with Howard Sattler, Adene covered stories such as the rescue of Tony Bullimore and the tragedy at Port Arthur.
Today Tonight stories from Adene CassidyShe also had the privilege of attending the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington in 1997.
In 1998 Adene joined the Today Tonight team at Seven Perth as a field producer and researcher. The following year she began her career as a reporter.
For the next two years Adene worked with the Perth team, covering local and national stories. Her most rewarding story was exposing an undercover car racket. The story prompted the WA Government to re-examine its penalties and tighten laws.
In 2001 Adene moved to New South Wales and joined the Today Tonight team in Sydney.
Until 2005 Adene enjoyed the constantly changing nature of nightly Current Affairs. She exposed the illegal trading of handguns in Kings Cross, led a three-month investigation into the fraudulent trading of building certificates which prompted an investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and eventual criminal charges.
Aside from enjoying the thrill of investigative stories, Adene also enjoys color stories and colorful interviews! Some include Andre Agassi, Heath Ledger, Boy George, Elle McPherson and Kylie Minogue.
After a break from television to enjoy time with her two young daughters Adene returned to 7News in 2011 and then back to Today Tonight where she now covers Lifestyle and Entertainment stories.
In her spare time Adene loves to travel and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
