However, despite the confessions, the parents are still chasing justice.
Photos show a sixteen-month-old girl, who became the focus of the babysitter's near fatal obsession, with her face battered and bruised.
She is lucky to be alive, after being attacked not at random, but in her own home and at the hands of someone who'd been there to care for her.
More stories from Today TonightThe young girl's parents never knew the danger that babysitter Anna Fenech posed to their daughter, until it was very nearly too late.
Fenech became their babysitter after approaching the couple about looking after their three young daughters.
There was no inkling of her sinister intentions, even after the girl was assaulted while Fenech was minding her.

"She was bruised badly - one whole side of her face, to where her eye was completely swollen shut," the little girl's mum recalled.
Fenech denied any responsibility, fabricating an excuse and blaming an innocent young neighbour, leading to an argument between the families.
The eventually moved, but it wasn't long before Fenech was back on the phone, pleading to look after the children.

Fenech was desperate to get back to the little girl, but on the very first day she was allowed to look after her in her new home, west of Brisbane, the girl was rushed to hospital, having choked on water in the bathtub.
"I asked what happened and she told me this story about how the other two were fighting in the hallway, and she'd gone to separate them. And she's come back and (my daughter) was under the water," the girl's mum said.
With both lungs almost full of water, the toddler remained unconscious for more than 24 hours.

But while the parents were at the hospital, they received a chilling text message saying 'I drowned her on purpose. I hate her. I'm sorry.'
Fenech, who'd performed CPR on the little girl, denied sending the text message, again blaming someone else.
However this time her story didn't stack up, and one of the little girl's sisters finally revealed the torment they'd suffered at the hands of their babysitter.
The police moved in and that's when Fenech confessed to not only holding the little girl underwater, but to bashing her and blaming the neighbour in the earlier attack.
