Six weeks ago, Today Tonight brought you a story about water, not just any water but Unique Water. And it would appear this water isn't your run-of-the-mill H2O. It's creators claim it may ease conditions like arthritis, asthma, Alzheimer's, dermatitis, the flu, just about anything.'''
So popular is it that people are queuing for it at the only place it's sold: Berts Soft Drinks in Sydney. And it's walking out the door.
Six weeks down the track Today Tonight decided to see what effect, if any, it had had on the condition of some of the drinkers.
Lorette Atkins has had arthritis for three years, a condition that caused extreme pain just to walk.
Now though, she claims she has less pain and more mobility and she puts it all down to the water.
She drinks three bottles a day and says that whilst it's probably a little early to tell at least she's drinking more water.
She would like a few more months before she says she's cured.
Jeni Robertson has also been using the Unique Water for arthritis and to boost her energy levels.
She, too, is a convert...the water, she says, has turned her life around. She'd been taking a myriad of expensive arthritis drugs all to no avail.
She's now drinking three bottles of Unique Water a day and hasn't looked back.
The only worry she has is her husband finding out how much she's spending on water.
The manufacturers aren't surprised by these testimonials or the response to this new product.
They say that they're getting people from all over the country demanding the water, from as far away as Perth.
It's still walking out the door and no wonder, people simply believe in its curative powers, not least the makers.
Dennis Shelley has been drinking the water to improve his dodgy knee. Now, he says, he's playing footy again.
The water's inventor, Dr Russell Beckett, hasn't made his first million out of his product just yet but says he's in it for the long haul.
He says his main motivation is to get as much of his water to as many people as possible as cheaply as possible.
Julie Mitchell has also agreed to monitor the success of Unique Water for Today Tonight. She's been drinking the water to improve her arthritis.
She says it's still too early to tell whether the water has worked for her or not but if it does...well it's worth it's weight in gold.
Today Tonight will keep an eye on these volunteers and bring you more over the next few weeks.
