Most of it is second hand, much of it is potentially dangerous.
After receiving a raft of faulty, filthy, used, dangerous, obsolete and out of date products, Laura De Georgiou and Lucy Sposaro contacted hundreds of other disgruntled Go Deals customers also trying to get refunds and being fobbed off for months.
Lucy had waited five weeks, just to end up with these.
“They weren't in packaging or anything, they were just literally shoved in the envelope," said Lucy
“They advertised the latest model bi-ionic hair straightener, with the new picture and all the specifications. The product was from the early 90's and it's not available in stores because it's worth nothing," said Laura
$29.95 but Go Deals claimed it was worth $300. It was only after 7 months of complaining then threatening legal action, Laura finally got her refund.
It actually burnt my hair and pulled strands of it out," said Jamie Menzies
Jamie Menzies is too frightened to turn her's on.
“It was really really hot after using it and we later found out it was a 10 year old model," said Jamie
Vadim Khoroshin, also known as James, runs GoDeals. He blames the packers, shippers, other excuses.
“We're moving warehouses and we email customers and says we're running late we're running late with orders and that's it," says Vadim.
Jamie Menzies box of Go Deals disasters. Old, stale crackers and cake mix - inedible.
“So these were 2 mths beyond their use-by expiry date by the time you got them?” asked Reporter
“Yes. It's disgusting I wouldn't feed it to my animals," said Jamie
NSW Minister for Fair Trading, Anthony Roberts says “The plastic seal is easily broken and within are these ingestible parts that are a definite choking hazard that can cause serious injury if not death to small children.”
“Fair Trading is undertaking an investigation as we speak we will apply the full force of the law where we can this individual can face very heavy fines under the Australian consumer laws," said Anthony Roberts.
Trish Smith set up a Facebook page to warn others and says:
“Why do people buy food from him? He puts such a good deal up if you can buy 2 Betty Crocker cakes for the price of $1.50 and doing it hard to send kids to school well that's a really good deal. Until you get it and find it was supposed to be cooked up five year ago. Never got one thing that was worth a quarter what I had paid for it.”
“They can always go charge back with their credit card company if something does happen and they don’t get a response or not happy they can go charge-back 21.09 and the bank will give them the money back," said Vadim.
Vadim Khoroshin assured us he'd attend to complaints.
“All they have to do is email us or put on Facebook page and we will reply.”
Vadim Khoroshin, at least, seems to be doing well out of Go Deals.
“I'd love to make him live in a house and only use his own products. The man would be insane in a day," said Trish.
