Engineers have used a special high-powered winch to get a Ford Focus to hurtle almost 200 kilometres per hour before reaching a solid concrete wall.

With two mannequins on board, the car went from 200 kilometres per hour to zero in just one hundredth of a second, and the impact was devastating.

Normal crash tests are conducted at one third of the speed.

Doctor leaves two for dead
