The mother of a man that was shot and killed at a store was horrified to learn that customers stepped over his body.
Recently released surveillance footage shows the moment Jheryl Wright was killed at the Kalamazoo convenience store in Michigan.
The footage also shows customers walking over his body for five minutes following his death before anyone called for help, according to the Daily News.
The shop assistant also continued to serve customers even after he had looked at Mr Wright’s body.
Jackel Wright told WWMT-TV that she recently learnt that the footage showed the moment her son was gunned down in September 2012.
But after the 24-year-old man collapsed, customers stepped over his wounded body to get through the door.
“When they told me people were still coming in that gas station, stepping over my child in the doorway, I couldn’t believe it,” the teary-eyed mother told the news station.
“I just can’t believe people in this world would do something like that. I can’t.”
The footage was released during the trial of Clarence Ross, who was last week found guilty of murdering Mr Wright.
“How would they feel if that was one of their loved ones sitting there?” Jackel Wright said.
“I hope God have mercy on your soul, because you was wrong sitting there and not helping my son, like he was just a doormat — walking over him, laying there dead,” she said.
