A French father-son hunting trip turned to tragedy after the teenager accidentally shot his dad.
Despite frantically trying to call relatives, the teen wasn't able to revive his dad, French media reported.
It is believed the 14-year-old was so upset, he then turned the gun on himself.
The pair were out hunting at Sourribes, Alpes-de-Haute Provence.
By the time paramedics arrived at the scene, it was too late.
Authorities believe the boy accidentally pulled the trigger after slipping.
"It is a hunting accident caused unintentionally by the boy who, realising the irreversible consequences, turned the weapon on himself and killed himself," prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger told Le Parisien.
A source close to the investigation said the boy was found dead next to his father.
