Taser, drugs and cash in alleged haul

Police allegedly uncovered a Taser, along with drugs, a smoking implement and $3000 in cash, when they stopped a car in Koondoola early this morning.

Police stopped a Holden Commodore on Burbridge Avenue, Koondoola, at 2am. A police spokesman said officers spotted a crowbar in the driver’s footwell of the vehicle.

Police searched the rest of the car and seached an occupant, allegedly turning up 21g of cannabis, $3000 in cash, a glass smoking implement and a small black torch on the passenger seat.

"As an officer picked up the torch, the switch was activated," the police spokesman said.

"The torch was in fact a taser which discharged. No shock was received by Police. The taser was about 8 inches long and an inch in diameter.

It is black in colour and had 'Police' written in silver writing on the side."

A 41-year-old mane was arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He will appear appear in the Joondalup Magistrate's Court on January 28.
