The fiancee of an Ellenbrook man comatose in a Greek hospital after a quad bike accident has described her anguish at seeing him fight for life.
Ben Phillips, 29, was on the home stretch of a seven-week dream holiday, which included a marriage proposal to girlfriend Sarah Langdon, 28, when tragedy struck on the island of Paros on Thursday.
The couple had been riding quad bikes from beach to beach when about 2pm Mr Phillips lost control of his bike and collided head-on with a car.
He had to be airlifted to an Athens hospital where doctors are monitoring swelling on his brain.
"They can't give us a specific time on when they'll be able to wake him or what sort of damage his brain has sustained," Ms Langdon said from Athens.
She said the couple's travel insurer was investigating their claim but in the interim she was forced to pay his rising medical costs upfront in cash.
"I would like to thank everyone for the support and their loving thoughts and prayers that they've already given and the money they've been able to raise so far," Ms Langdon said.
She said her relationship with Mr Phillips was perfect.
"We were both looking for something special and when we met it just worked," she said.
They moved into their own home in Ellenbrook just two months before leaving on their holiday.
Mr Phillips' father Tony said the incident was a parent's worst nightmare and all he wanted was for Ben to be healed and home soon.
