Perth shoppers are expected to lead the charge when millions of bargain hunters hit the shops across the nation today.
From 11am, shoppers will begin swarming through Perth stores in search of massive post-Christmas discounts.
National Retailer Association chief executive Trevor Evans said he expected growth over the Christmas period in WA to be about 9 per cent, while national growth would be closer to 3 per cent.
"Nationally, Boxing Day is going to be slightly bigger than last year, probably in the order of about 2 to 3 per cent more in terms of retail sales," Mr Evans said.
"Western Australia would probably be looking at about $250 million worth of sales on Boxing Day, so that's about 15 per cent of the nation's (spend).
David Jones will hold its 107th post-Christmas clearance today, with savings of up to 60 per cent on offer. Myer is tipping 1.5 million customers on the first day of its sale.
This year, the department store's online customers were able to access the annual sale from 9pm on Christmas Eve.
