The Bibbulmun Track Foundation's new calendar has more than 25 events that bring the best out of the world-class walking trail. Those new to bushwalking could take an L-Plates Pub Plod, an easy walk finishing up at a favourite "watering hole", while Bibbulmun Birds walks are great for wildlife enthusiasts or budding nature photographers.
Take a Star Trek to get a view of the sky away from the light pollution of the city or try the new Nocturnal Natives & Other Bush Beasts walk. With spring around the corner, the Track is the ideal place to experience WA's magnificent wildflowers on a Bibbulmun Blossoms walk. All trekking gear is supplied on overnight weekend escapes, including the Balingup Weekend Explorer, an introduction to overnight bushwalking in the beautiful Balingup area. There are also ladies-only Dwellingup Damsels events and the Bibbulmun Track Foundation can arrange tailor-made walks and overnight treks. For children, Walking with Mum and Walking with Dad weekends are a good way to get out of the house and into the bush, while school holidays are covered with Children's Camp Kitchen and Dr Dolittle Goes Bush where the kids get to interact and learn about our native animals.
The foundation regularly runs Free Social Sunday day walks, led by trained volunteers, which are free for members and $15 for non-members. bibbulmuntrack.org.au and 9481 0551
