A restored former palace and convent just behind the main square in the Peruvian city of Cusco is one of the hottest new hotels for 2012, according to travel reviews website TripAdvisor.
The site has compiled a list of the top 10 hotels around the globe which opened this year, based on reviews from travellers on TripAdvisor. Cusco's Palacio Nazarenas, an Orient-Express hotel, is among them.
"Despite being open for only a year, these hotels have already been making a name for themselves due to their wonderful amenities and excellent service standards," TripAdvisor spokesperson Jean Ow-Yeong said.
"From what travellers are already saying about them, these new properties are set to continue winning over many guests in years to come."
Also included on the list is the InterContinental Danang Resort on the Sontra Peninsula in Vietnam, which has beachfront villas with private pools and two golf clubs. "The moment you enter through the impressive gate and arrive in the lobby, it feels as if you have entered a different world, and suddenly left reality behind," one TripAdvisor reviewer said.
