Hamilton Island's picture perfect views are being snapped up by Instagram users as part of a tourism drive.

The popular getaway in the Whitsundays is launching a pilgrimage for a group of the popular photo sharing app's users between November 23-25.

As a part of The Ultimate InstaMeet, pilgramers - Instagram users on a pilgrimage - will visit the island and post their holiday snaps via the photo sharing network on social media.

Tourism operator Hamilton Island's communications manager Sophie Baker said social media was an ideal tool to promote the destination.

"We're very excited about promoting the Island through Instagram," she said.

"People take much of their inspiration and ideas for holidays from friends, family and followers."

A selection of Australian Instagram users will be invited to be a part of the group of travellers tasked with sharing the island via the app.
