Perth Glory striker Shane Smeltz was unable to inspire New Zealand to an Olympic Games upset as the Oly-Whites crashed out after losing 3-0 to tournament favourites Brazil.
Goals from Danilo (23) and Leandro Damiao (29) gave the South Americans a 2-0 half-time lead at St James' Park in Newcastle, before Sandro (52) completed the scoring.
Sandro's namesake Alex Sandro was later sent off but Brazil by then had the game sewn up.
The Kiwis finished bottom of Group C with a single point, while Brazil were joined in the quarter-finals by Egypt, who beat Belarus 3-1 in Glasgow.@SiobhanParekh I will be here ;)
