Perth Scorchers are praying for a miracle after adding batsman Shaun Marsh to their squad for tomorrow's BBL final against Hobart Hurricanes.
Marsh has a calf muscle strain that ruined his chance of regaining a Test spot on Australia's tour of South Africa.
Even Marsh conceded last weekend he was a "long shot" to be fit for the Twenty20 clash but the Scorchers have taken a gamble and will assess his state just before the toss.
Marsh is a damaging top-order batsman, who was the leading run scorer in last season's BBL series,
The left-hander has missed the Scorchers past four games. He most recent appearance in the BBL was against the Hurricanes on January 7 when he made 40.
Scorchers captain Simon Katich remained optimistic about Marsh's availability.
“He’s done everything possible to get himself right,” Katich said.
“We’ll have another interesting selection dilemma.”
Hilton Cartwright makes way for Marsh in the 13-man squad.
Semi-final centurion Craig Simmons is in the squad despite a hip complaint which forced him to sit out the fielding innings against the Sixers.
Tickets for the match sold out in 20 minutes today. A crowd in excess of 20,000 is expected.
