Johnson the king, says Swann

Johnson the king, says Swann (The West)

Former England spin ace Graeme Swann has labelled Mitchell Johnson the most influential cricketer in the world.

Swann retired during the recent Ashes series with Johnson inspiring the Aussies to a 5-0 clean sweep.

Johnson has now fired Australia to the brink of a series win over world No1 South Africa.

"If you put Mitchell Johnson into any of the top six sides they'd become the number one team in the world," Swann told the Tuffers and Vaughan radio show on BBC 5 Live.

Asked the reason behind Australia's resurgence, Swann said: "It's very simple, anyone who can't put their finger on it needs their head looking at if they know anything about the game - Mitchell Johnson.

"He was a laughing stock amongst the England fans, especially the Barmy Army, and he has turned his career round to a phenomenal point.

"He bowled a few years ago like he had a blindfold on, all of a sudden he's bowling 95 miles an hour ... and absolutely rolling through the world's best batsmen."
